 igfest was a…
winner

Finally the dust has settled and looking back at igfest from here i’m still amazed at the enthusiasm and dedication everyone brought to the fest. Both the fantastic game designers and the, ever willing to play, people of Bristol who really made it what it was.

What did we do at igfest? We ran through the night in our hundreds. We played on city streets, on boats, in parks, in car parks. We sewed down race tracks and cried out like Cuckoos and Wolves. We blasted each other with colour and plucked each other like harps. We ruled the lazer universe and sought lovers and dancers in the crowds. We had new fun with old friends and made new friends with some simple fun. We were all ages races and backgrounds and we were all peers.

Thanks to all those who came

Thanks to all those who made it possible

Here are some pics of the fest. If you have your own we’d love to see them so feel free to add them to our flickr group or tag them igfest

Moose is making his Autumn migration. Can you spot him on route? Can you shoot him before he shoots you?

and now for igfest

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Yes Yes, igfest is almost here and and the line up is looking almost too good. Like the cake my friend mikey threw out of the window for being too delicious… but were not throwing anything out now. We’ve got 23 fantastic games ready and waiting to go. Check the schedule of games here and see the games throughout the festival here. Almost all the games require you to sign up and it’s first come first serve so get in as quick as you can. The first game will kick off next Wednesday as Moose begins his autumn migration from the deepest darkest Forrest of Dean to the festival. You can check his progress and find out how to play here. Then on the Friday night we’ll be playing what might be the biggest game ever played in the city, The Journey to the Middle of the Night. Evade the seekers, find the hidden checkpoints and make your way through a series of strange circumstances to reach the party at the end of the night.

There are tons of games over the weekend, too many for anyone to play them all, but we hope you’ll love them all so much you will want to try as many as you can.

On Saturday and Sunday we’ll be based in the iglounge next to Watershed. There you can find out more about the games and sign up to play (spaces permitting). There will be games that use GPS, games for you to download to your phone and a selection of low-tech high-fun games for you to just pick up and play. If you’ve got five mins or five hours to spare, drop in to the iglounge and get out to play.

igfest gives you a license to play and be playful and will be more fun than you can shake a stick/Wiimote at…

if you’d like to help out at the festival please tell HelenB@igfest.org and she’ll let you know what you get in return.

hope to see you all there
